HIPERDIE Special CrMoV-alloyed hot work tool steel with excellent high-temperature strength and better toughness properties than grade 2344 as well as higher thermal conductivity than the classic hot work tool steels 2343,2344 and 2367. In comparison to the NiCrMoV - tool steels 2711/2714 HIgh PERformance DIE is characterized by higher wear resistance, comparable to grade 2343. • Close-die forging: Small and medium-sized dies and die inserts for a large number of forgings. • Highly stressed plastic moulds: Small and medium moulds as well as mould inserts subject to abrasive stress caused by processing of thermosetting plastics, thermoplastics and composite materials also in combination with surface treatments. Where there is a requirement for -Polishability < 400 paper grit - Sensitive etch designs (e.g. HNO3 ) -Higher thermal conductivity we recommend grade Thruhard Supreme® • Light alloy processing: Gravity - as sell as low pressure die- casting moulds and tools up to 45 HRC.
SM 1730 C45U 1.1730 XC 48 ~ 1045 C~45E Surface hardenable tool steel with hard surface and tough core. Used for cold heading dies, top and bottom plates for plastic die casting, die casting tools, hand tools, tongs, agricultural tools, blanking tools, leather knives.
2311 ISO-B 40 CrMnMo 7 40 CMD 8 ~ P 20 ~ P 20 Standard mould steel, economical to machine, easy to polish, hard chrome plateable, grain reliable, for dimensions ≤ 400 mm thick. Where there is a requirement for • Higher hardness and better through-hardenability. • Polishability > 320 grit. • Sensitive etch designs (e.g. HNO3, fine or textile graining). • Higher thermal conductivity. We recommend grade 2738mod.TS(HH). • Quenched and tempered to 2800–325 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 950 – 1100 MPa)*. Small and medium-sized injection moduls, press moulds and mould frames up frames up to 400 mm thick.
SM 2311 X40CrMnMo7 12311 P402C0 M+D N8i ~ P20 ~P 20 Steel with good hardening penetration up to 400mm. Generally supplied in hardenend and tempered condition with excellent polishing and photoengraving properties. This steel is suitable for nitriding (arround 800 HV), chrome and nickel planting Used for plastic dies with good surface finish properties. It is also used for dies of light alloys with low melting point, plates, dies box, etc.
SM 2312 X40CrMnMoS8-6 12312 40CMD8S ~ P20 + 5 ~ P20 + 5 Steel with good hardening penetration and good tool workability, also in hardened and tempered condition, thanks to the high level of sulphur. The main application is for plastic material dies also in large sizes, on condition that surface finish properties are not too excessive. It is also used for plates, dies box, dies of light alloys with low melting point. It is steel suitable for nitriding (arround 800 HV) and chrome planting.
2343 ISO-B X 37 CrMoV 5-1 Z 38 CDV 5 H 11 BH 11 Tungsten-free hot work tool steel on a CrMoV base. Insensitive to temperature shock, and with high wear resistance. Annealed to max. 229 HB. Hardened and tempered to customer specification on request. Extruder tools including pipe extruders, such as extrusion stems, die holders, insert and bridge type tools, liners and liner holders, outer mantles. Highly stressed plastic moulds. Mould inserts with abrasive stress, such as occurs in processing thermosetting plastics, thermoplastics and composite materials. Die-casting moulds, mould inserts, sliders and cores; for processing Al, Mg and zinc die-casting.
2344 ISO-B X 40 CrMoV 5-1 Z 40 CDV 5 H 13 BH 13 CrMoV alloyed hot work tool steel with double V content compared to grade 2343 ISO-B. Very good tempering properties, good toughness, good hardness at high temperatures, very good compressive strength, insensitive to thermal shock. Better wear resistance than grade 2343. Good machinability in the annealed state. Can be cooled in water with limitations. Annealed to max. 229 HB. Hardened and tempered to customer specification on request. Extrusion tools including pipe extruders: highly stressed mould inserts, dummy blocks, extrusion stems, die holders, stem heads; especially for profi le dies, insert and bridge type tools for compacting light alloys, liners and line holders. Highly stressed plastic moulds, mould inserts with abrasive stress, as occurs when processing thermo-setting plastics, thermoplastics and composite materials. Die-casting moulds and mould inserts, sliders, cores, ejectors and filling sleeves.
2711 ISO-B 54 NiCrMoV6 55 NCDV 7 ~ 6 F 2 ~ BH 224 High toughness, high compressive strength, polishable. Nitridable as delivered; hard chrome plateable, flame hardenable, grain reliable. Annealed to max. 248 HB. Quenched and tempered to 370–415 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 1250–1400 MPa)* or to customer specification. For larger compression and injection moulds subject to higher mechanical and thermal stress. Contour hardening is recommended. With higher working hardness, also suited to processing SMC and GMT, in combination with surface coating if applicable.
2714 ISO-B 55 NiCrMoV 7 55 NCDV 07 L 6 Classic die steel with through-hardening properties up to a reference diameter of 450 mm. For larger dimensions we recommend grade 2714 ISO-B MOD or hardening and tempering aftercontour roughing. For hardness up to 440 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 1500 MPa). Annealed to max. 248 HB. Quenched and tempered to 370–415 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 1250–1400 MPa)* or to customer specification. Large press dies for forming aluminium, forging dies for large quantities regardless of die size and shape of cut, die and mould holders, tool holders and cold forging die holders, tool cassettes. Hydroforming moulds.
Efficient ~ 40 CrMnMo 7 + Ni ~ 40 CMD 8 + Ni ~ P 20 + Ni ~ P 20 + Ni Mould steel for thickness ≤ 600mm (width upon request). Properties as for grade 2311 ISO-BM, but with improved through-hardening. Nitridable, hard chrome plateable, flame hardenable, polishable, grain-reliable as delivered. In an extreme dimensional range, and where there is a requirement for: • Higher hardness and better through-hardenability. • Polishability > 320 grit. • Sensivitive etch-graining designs (e.g. HNO3 ,fine or textile graining). • Higher thermal conductivity we recommend grade 2738 mod.TS(HH). Quenched and tempered to 280–325 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 950– 1100 MPa)* Small and medium-sized injection moulds, press moulds and mould frames up to 600 mm thick.

E ≈40 CrMnMo 7+Ni ≈40 CMND8 ≈P20 SM-2738 Mod E, prehardened 280 - 325 HB, grade specially designed for plastic mold industry.Chromium, Molybdenum, Manganese and Nickel additions are optimized to have a fully martensite-bainite microstructure after quenching. The steel is melted in an electrical furnace and refined with VOD or DH device. The cleanliness of the seteel is guaranteed as well as the soundness. This makes the steel particularly well adapted for mold Steel even when polishing or chemical etching are required for surface finish quality. Typical applications for 2738 Mod E grade are: • Plastic injection molds for thermoplastics. • Extrusion dies for thermoplastics • Compression molds.

In an extreme dimensional range, and where there is a requirement for: • Higher hardness and better through-hardenability. • Polishability > 320 grit. • Sensivitive etch-graining designs (e.g. HNO3 ,fine or textile graining). • Higher thermal conductivity. 2738mod. Efficient Extrahard Mould steel with higher hardness 350–395 HB. Hard chrome plateable, fl ame and laser hardenable, etch-grainable, nitridable (max. 500 °C). Where there is a requirement for polishability > 400 grit and/or sensitive etch-graining designs (e.g. HNO3 we recommend 2738mod.TS(HH). For applications that require a combination of high strength and toughness we recommend grade 2711 ISO-B. Quenched and tempered to 350–395 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 1180 – 1340 MPa)* Compression and injection moulds where higher hardness is needed. Thichkness max. 600 mm (width on request)
2738 Mod TS THRUHARD SUPREME Recently developed plastic mould steel, distinguished from grades 2311 and 2738 by: • Higher hardness and better through-hardenability. • Polishability up to 600 grit (high gloss finish reliability on request). • Grain reliability even with sensitive etch-graining designs. Improved weldability • Higher thermal conductivity we recommend grade 2738 mod.TS(HH). Nitridable, hard chrome plateable, flame hardenable as delivered; its higher basic hardness provides better support for surface finishing (such as PVD coating). HighHard: 2738mod.TS(HH). Quenched and tempered to 310–355 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 1050 – 1100 MPa)*. Normal hardness: 2738mod.TS. Quenched and tempered to 280–325 HB ( ͇˄ approx. 950– 1100 MPa)* Compression and injection moulds to accommodate large dimensions such as bumpers, dashboards, chairs, rubbish bins, bottle crates, television cabinets, etc.
